Be launches gamers portal
Saturday 01 November 2008 11:26:08 by Andrew Ferguson

Be broadband while hitting the headlines for the use of ADSL2+ is about the only provider offering ADSL2+ Annex M which boosts upload speeds to a maximum of 2.5Mbps. This makes the product popular with gamers looking to host games on their own connection.

Be is now trying to appeal to a larger portion of the gaming community, by launching a Be Gamer website, where both Be members and gamers from other providers can come together.

"Through initiatives such as Be Gamer.co.uk and partnerships with exciting gaming companies such as EnemyDown, Be really is the first choice for all serious gamers. Be Gamers gain an advantage over everyone else through Be’s industry leading ping times, meaning that if you have Be Broadband you’ll be able to act and react faster than your opponents. With the launch of Be Gamer, we hope to cultivate an active and vibrant community for all gamers, and in time build value for our members that they won’t get from any other ISP."

Felix Geyr, Managing Director of Be Broadband

Gaming sites are hardly rare, but by a provider hosting a site it can get a better idea of any issues the gaming community may have with their connections.

It would be remiss of us to mention Be in the news and not mention that Be has contacted its members over some congestion issues, the e-mail sent out can be read in our forums. Be appears to be on top of the problem and has a date of 17th November for when work on completing upgrades to various parts of their network will be completed. Some posters are already suggested improvements are apparent.

Tell that to my CS buddies who miss me playing between 7 and 12 pm because of my (unresolved after a month) ping issues
