TalkTalk adds free mobile dongle to its armoury
Wednesday 27 August 2008 15:14:07 by Andrew Ferguson

Summer promotions are well under way, and mobile broadband has now been added to the bundle offerings from TalkTalk. The 'free' TalkTalk broadband that is available when you take their Talk Global Evening & Weekend calls and line rental package includes the option of a free mobile broadband dongle until 31st October 2008.

The line rental and calls package works out at £13.75 per month for three months, rising to £16.99 per month thereafter (in areas where TalkTalk has unbundled the exchange). The mobile broadband dongle will be charged at £49.99 when you take up the promotion in store, but this amount is refunded in the second billing month.

The dongle does not include any usage allowance since it is a simple Pay As You Go product from 3. To use the dongle a £10 (1GB), £15 (3GB) or £25 (7GB) top-up needs to be purchased. These top-ups are valid for 30 days and are covered in detail on the 3 website.

This offer is only available in Carphone Warehouse shops in the high street, but details of the broadband and telephone packages can be found on

This is 2008 not 1998.

Well that's going to get the customers rushing in. No doubt the marketing department will ensure as many people as possible will find themselves locked into a lengthy contract for a dreadful product.

Rroff - Sure it's 2008. Using "mobile broadband" is just as stupid as it was ten years ago. *Nothing's changed*

Dawn_Falcon - 10years ago we had 9600bps and if you were lucky 14.4 or 28.8 on Orange's high speed circuit switched data. GPRS was just arriving, and cost a fortune for 28.8kbps.

Now we can have 1gigabyte of data at 1.8mps for £10?

Things have improved drastically. Pricing is still high however.

jchamier - The prices then compared to the content avaliable were silly. The prices now compared to the content avaliable are silly.

No difference.

No need to even argue against or in favour of this.... Its Talk Talk, that speaks for itself.

Maybe talk talk have as little faith in their network as their customers. Throw in broadband dongle and get a little bit of redundancy! Speeds may be faster on Three as well.

They have as much faith in their customers as we had in them.....Talksh*t more like.
This is the catch "in areas where TalkTalk has unbundled the exchange" their sales people dont even know what that means. We had a really bad experience with them and for just now are continuing to use BT broadband. There are big numbers of people in dense compact areas that this is good for but other wise these companies promise you the earth and deliver nothing but excuses and CONtracts.
