More free Wi-Fi on way to coffee shops
Tuesday 15 April 2008 13:45:51 by Andrew Ferguson

As of the 1st May 2008 the majority of Coffee Republic bars will be offering free Wi-Fi access for those who purchase coffee/food. To get access to the free Wi-Fi an access token will be handed over when you purchase something.

"The launch of free Wi-Fi in Coffee Republic Bars will be a huge benefit and attraction to our customers. People are increasingly looking for ways to access the Internet on the move, they want to lead a flexible and modern lifestyle and we need to help them do that with the service we provide. This new service in our Bars will give them a new evolution in technology in a warm, comfortable environment."

Steven Bartlett, Chief Executive Officer, Coffee Republic

With some wireless hot-spots costing £4.50 per hour, for those traveling with a Wi-Fi enabled device being able to check email or check online prices versus high street for free will appeal.

Last week over at ITPro they ran the news that Caffè Nero has partnered up with BT Openzone hotspots to offer a pay as you go or subscription Wi-Fi service. BT Total Broadband customers who have signed up to BT FON will of course be able to access these Openzone hotspots for free.
