BTwholesale Publish Information on Self-Installs
Friday 17 August 2001 16:16:00 by Andrew Ferguson

BTwholesale have updated the ADSL Interface Specification documents to cover the new splitter interface that will be used by the self-install products. The document is available as SINet document number 346 version 2 and is available here.

The new splitter's will be simple devices that you plug into all the phone sockets in the house, i.e. one for each phone and one for the ADSL modem, this removes the need for a BT engineer to come and replace the BT master socket faceplate.

Once BT's internal trials are over, more information on how self-installs are to work is likely to emerge, e.g. where the woosh test fits into the scheme of things.
