The network status pages of Karoo who supply broadband in the Hull area of the UK reveal a major incident affecting customers in the area.

An update is expected around 5pm which will hopefully see people getting their service back. Incidents like this can often reveal how reliant we have become on broadband access, and leave businesses panicking to find an emergency connection. The moral being to keep some form of backup connection available - use of a Wi-Fi hotspot is not guaranteed as manner of these actually use an ADSL connection for backhaul connectivity.
