Last night saw a major outage on the Virgin Media cable network as people nationwide were unable to connect to the Internet over their broadband connections. A post to the Virgin Media status page stated that the Digital TV service was also affected:
"Some customers Nationally may currently be experiencing a loss all Digital & Broadband services. Our engineers are aware of the issue and are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. Virgin Media apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The problems started around 22:00 and continued through the night with users suffering from patchy connectivity until it was reported as resolved at 10:43 this morning. No cause has yet been reported.
