Be launch home monitor service
Friday 07 December 2007 11:34:31 by Andrew Ferguson

Be has launched a product that makes use of the fact that broadband is a two-way service, its new Be home monitor service is a wireless IP network camera combined with key fob to arm the system. To explain easily Be has uploaded a three minute video to YouTube which runs through what the system can do.

The system works by detecting movement and sending an email, SMS or MMS with picture attachment when the camera alarm is triggered. This only happens if you arm the device using the remote keyfob, extra images are uploaded to a personal account so you can review them and check whether it is the kids coming in from school, or something more worrying. Even when the alarm has not gone off you can access a live video stream from the camera.

The service has a £150 set-up fee and a £5 monthly charge, which includes 100 SMS and 10 MMS alerts each month and unlimited email alerts (which are subject to a fair use policy).
