The BT Group is the latest of the players to publish second quarter results.
BT Retail with its BT Total consumer range and business broadband options gained 178,000 customers in the second quarter giving them a total of 4,074,000 customers as of 30th September 2007. As this is the combined consumer and business total, it is possible Virgin Media does actually hold the crown for largest consumer broadband provider. The BT Retail share of net additions in the quarter was 37%, which is the fourth quarter with growth at over 30%. BT Vision the Freeview/Video over Broadband system from BT has grown to 60,000 customers since its launch.
Overall the BT Group has 11.7 million broadband lines (BT Wholesale and unbundled), 3.2 million of these are unbundled lines. The quarter brought a total of 479,000 new connections.
