BT Openzone launch international Wi-Fi voucher
Tuesday 30 October 2007 14:31:33 by John Hunt

BT Openzone have today announced a Wi-Fi voucher that will allow the use of Wi-Fi services internationally and have also expanded their Wi-Fi roaming to an extra 1,200 hotels following a deal with iBahn to supplement the existing 9,600 hotels and 35,000 hotspots worldwide where BT Openzone customers can access Wi-Fi.

The voucher gives users 500 minutes (8hrs 20mins) of online time for £28 for the Americas and £40 in Europe. Openzone are touting the service as an alternative to traditional roaming, with the ability to make phone calls over the Internet, and thus saving large amounts on roaming charges. It will obviously also provide a great alternative to GPRS or 3G connections which can often be subject to expensive roaming charges.

The Americas voucher is valid for 7 days from the first log in and covers the USA, Canada, Brazil and Argentina. The European version is valid for 14 days and covers France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark. The vouchers are also valid for use in the UK so you can start using it at the airport before your travel and use any time left after your return to the UK, as long as it is within the validity period.
