Pipex broadband chief may be leaving
Friday 28 September 2007 11:51:10 by Andrew Ferguson

With the sale of your broadband consumer base to another company posts like broadband chief and head of marketing start to look less viable. It is with this in mind that there is talk of Dominic Crolla the managing director of Pipex's internet business leaving the company. MarketingWeek.co.uk also speculates on whether Peter Turner the head of the marketing division may also leave.

It is obvious Tiscali has a fairly large marketing department already and with the wider roll-out of Tiscali TV planned, Tiscali is likely to be a name we will see even more in marketing material. Whether the Pipex teams will be retained or offered jobs with the Tiscali group largely seems to depend on whether the Pipex broadband customers are to be assimilated fully, or retained as a distinct brand within the Tiscali group.

Other news from Pipex appeared earlier in the week, which we saw on The Register, and this is that Pipex is looking to break off its WiMAX division with the idea of it operating as a standalone wireless service provider. Trials of the WiMAX service have completed, with Manchester likely to be the first large city to get the live service later this year.

Id like to say its a shame but its not as even high up staff are useless when it comes to issues and communicating (ive experienced it).
All i hope is Tiscali dont replace certain staff with people even more inept, which to be honest would be difficult. Pipex nowadays (whats left of it anyway) is more shattered than a pane of broken glass.

I had a couple of lengthy one to one meetings with Dominic ( July 2005 and March 2007)and found him to be a really nice guy.

Must admit I'm surprised to see talk of his departing as he was with GX prior to the initial purchase of Pipex Internet.

Its possible they are not being forced out as such nadger but they feel the same way we all do about the Tiscali take over.

It is time Tiscali came clean about their future intentions for Freedom2Surf and Pipex. Do they intend to keep them going as separate brands offering a distinctive service or are they going to absorb them fully into Tiscali? MacDonalds were wise enough to keep their ownership of Pret a Manger very low quiet. I don't have confidence that Tiscal will be so wise.

To be honest edsora in real life it wont make much difference, the actual customer service you get from pipex and tiscali is equally poor.. It wont matter what the proverbial name above the door reads.
