Alcatel(UK) shedding 300 staff.
Monday 16 July 2001 18:28:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Seems the global turndown has made it to Alcatel UK now. In a press release today they've announced that it will implement a series of targeted UK cost management initiatives to address the changing dynamics of the telecommunications market, including a reduction in the workforce of up to 300 people.

These are to be a mixture of compulsory and voluntary redundancies, no details on which divisions are affected, but the move is to try and focus the company on those markets that are the most profitable in the UK telecoms market.

On a the caring and sharing side, those people made redundant will be offered a redundancy package and support services.
