Thursday 05 April 2007 12:52:51 by Andrew Ferguson

WiMAX as a wireless broadband technology is appearing in a number of trials and service roll-outs around the country, including a WiMAX trial by Warwick District Council.

Pipex Wireless has today announced an agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks to co-operate on WiMAX infrastructure to increase the availability of commercial WiMAX services in the UK.

"Pipex Wireless brings expertise in internet, broadband and technology innovation and Nokia Siemens Networks' extensive experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining high quality networks globally will be invaluable to its future success."

Ari Lehtoranta, Head of Radio Access Networks at Nokia Siemens Networks

This agreement is expected to result in a pilot deployment later this year. Pipex Wireless owns a national spectrum licence in the 3.6 to 4.2 GHz frequency range and is working with a range of companies including Nokia Siemens Networks, Airspan Networks, Ericsson and National Grid Wireless to create WiMAX services across the country.

LOL Pipex cant nowadays even get wired connections right LOL. Lets hope the peeps at Nokia and other companies involved have some brains and can for once steer Pipex in the right direction. If not the Pipex name is sure to damage the name of some of those other organisations.
