One million unbundled lines mark passed
Wednesday 08 November 2006 10:32:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The one million LLU line milestone has been passed, the Office of Telecommunications Adjudicator has issued an update to announce this.

The update does remind us that there are still significant challenges ahead involving BT, Openreach and the unbundled operators. The key now is that we have the quantity, but if the unbundled market is to continue to grow it needs to offer quality too, and this needs work from all parties involved in the area.

One other bit of news in this area is that Openreach is to embark on 24 hour working in exchanges in an effort to clear the backlog of work it has. Hopefully this work will not be purely volume based, but staff will have the desire and time to ensure that work is done right the first time.
