New CEO appointed at Ofcom

Ofcom has arrived at a decision over who should be its Chief Executive Officer, after a search that started in May 2006. Ed Richards is to replace Stephen Carter who was the previous CEO. The announcement is detailed on the Ofcom website.

Ed Richards has been on the Ofcom board since March 2003, and was promoted to Chief Operating Office in July 2005. Previous jobs have included the Prime Minister’s Senior Policy Advisor on Media, Telecoms, Internet and e-Government, before that he was Controller of Corporate Strategy at the BBC.
