BT Retail possibly to re-take broadband crown from NTL group
Tuesday 12 September 2006 19:40:00 by Andrew Ferguson

ZDNet UK has run the numbers that show that BT Retail may once again become the largest broadband service provider in the UK. Currently BT Retail has a 24.3% share of the broadband market, which is only 2.4% behind the combined figures for NTL, Telewest & Virgin. A few months previously NTL:Telewest was 5% ahead.

This is not a case of NTL shrinking but its rate of growth appears to be slowing down, and the most likely causes being the limited geographic coverage of the cable broadband services from NTL:Telewest, plus to a lesser extent the renewed advertising campaigns from BT Retail.
