Tiscali group announces preliminary half year results
Tuesday 01 August 2006 12:58:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The Tiscali group operates both a retail and wholesale service. The wholesale side of the group is increasing in strength as other providers are now using it to offer LLU based services, that currently match the maximum speeds BT Wholesale based IPStream services can match. The benefits at this time are mainly to the provider as it is cheaper for them to use LLU rather than IPStream, but the future may see the consumer benefit from ADSL2+ services before BT Wholesale is ready to roll them out.

Now we are half way through the year, we are seeing the various preliminary results published by providers for the first half of 2006. The full press release from Tiscali can be read at The key facts are that Tiscali across Europe has 2.07 million broadband customers, of which 1.2 million are in the UK, with the UK adding 265,000 customers since December 2005. These figures include both retail and wholesale connections.
