Ofcom gives BT extra three months to bring ADSL checker in line
Friday 21 July 2006 11:42:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The formation of Openreach in the BT Group to act as a business providing equal access to all companies wishing to make use of the UK local loop has meant various changes for BT Wholesale. One area that almost everyone who has an ADSL connection will have used at some point, is the ADSL availability checker at www.btwholesale.com/get_broadband. The checker currently takes a data feed from Openreach that is not available to all other providers, which was meant to be resolved at the end of June 2006, but if BT Wholesale switched feeds at that time it would have slowed down the checker, and BT Wholesale has applied for and being given an extension to September 30th 2006, when a faster feed will be available to all providers.

The letter from BT detailing their side of things can be downloaded as a PDF document from here, the Ofcom response is here.
