Local TV content over broadband for Western Isles
Wednesday 14 June 2006 10:51:00 by Andrew Ferguson

A pilot TV service is to run during 2006 and 2007 to see what sort of interest there is in locally produced TV content in the Western Isles. The content would be accessed over peoples broadband connections, which every community in Scotland now in theory has access to.

The partners in the project have received funding from the European LEADER+ initiative, and is aimed at covering local events and news. For people in the area it will help give local events a wider audience, and also those from outside the area living around the UK may also be able to view content, thus helping to keep ties to friends and family.

More can be read on the project in the Scottish section of the BBC News website.
