Over on ThisIsMoney.co.uk there is the news that Ofcom is to recommend the creation of an obligatory code of practice for migrations between service providers. A voluntary code of practice has been in place since August 2004.
If Ofcom lays out rules for how migrations are handled it should be a good thing for consumers, since the system should be simpler to understand, rather than the myriad of rules embedded in service providers terms and conditions.
Migrations between the various service providers using BT Wholesale services is relatively straightforward, but with the increasing growth in LLU services, the need for consumers to be able to move smoothly between the LLU operators is perhaps the biggest hurdle to simple migrations.
