BT: LLU price cuts to stimulate competition
Friday 18 November 2005 05:25:00 by Sebastien Lahtinen

On Wednesday BT announced a reduction in its Local Loop Unbundled pricing which it claims will help stimulate competition in the market for new broadband services. The new terms which take effect from 15 December will include a reduction in the setup fee for a line from £168.38 to £99.95 (ex vat).

“These price reductions clearly demonstrate BT’s ongoing commitment to LLU and are designed to create additional certainty and confidence for operators investing in LLU. Openreach has been set up to deliver transparent and equal access for all to our network. We are confident that the price reductions announced today will further boost demand and stimulate competition in the market.”

BT will also remove the minimum term rental charges for shared and fully unbundled lines.
