UK has more than 100,000 unbundled telephone lines
Friday 09 September 2005 14:20:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Local loop unbundling in the UK appears to be continuing at a growing pace, with over 4000 lines being provided each week, giving a total of 105,000 unbundled lines in the UK. Details can be found in the August 2005 update from the Telecommunications Adjudicator.

The total includes lines which are shared and fully unbundled lines. The fully unbundled lines are what is used for many business LLU services, e.g. EasyNet and the telephone/DSL packages from Bulldog for residential use. The shared lines, are where the telephone service is still provided by BT, but the DSL service is provided by a provider like UK Online, Be, HomeChoice and others.
