Vispa launch parental control package
Wednesday 08 June 2005 16:45:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Vispa has released a Parental Control & Security software package that can can filter and control access to online content. The package is capable of monitoring and record chat software, blocking inappropriate web sites, anti-virus control, time limits for computer access and logs what software is used on a specific computer.

The package has a free 14 day trial period allowing people to give it a test run, after this it will cost £4.99 per month for the subscription. The software can be installed on up to three computers in the home. A lot more detail is on the Vispa website here.

One useful component is that you can control the settings and policies online via any Internet connection, this allows parents to monitor or change settings even when not home. Safe Internet Zones can also be created, which means you can provide a list of sites and these are the only ones accessible from that computer. Unfortunately the software is only available for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
