Tuesday 07 June 2005 19:02:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Metronet is offering people the chance to buy a product with a higher inclusive data usage allowance. Metronet has pioneered 'Pay As You Go' services in the UK, starting well before most other providers, they also include sensible price caps to avoid unpleasant shocks with the bill.

Metronet PayGoExtra that has been launched today, which includes 5GB of data on the 0.5Mbps service, 15GB on the 1Mbps and 30GB on the 2Mbps. The existing PayGo products have bundled allowances of just 0.2GB, 1GB and 3GB respectively. The bundled allowance on the PayGoExtra range is cheaper than the previous products, e.g. on PayGo500 5GB of traffic would cost £22.75, but with PayGoExtra it will cost only £16.99. The penalty for the higher initial allowance is the basic price per month is slightly higher, £16.99, £19.99 and £22.99 on the three speeds of service.

The price capping Metronet use, ensure that no matter what level of usage you use, you will not pay above a certain figure each month, for example on the 2Mbps service the capped price is £38.75.
