UK Online who recently announced their £39.99 per month 8Mbps ADSL service, is rolling out its service in phases across the EasyNet LLU exchange network. One issue that has been raised by customers on our forums, is that the £69.99 (inc VAT) wireless router is a compulsory purchase when subscribing to the service. This is to ensure that UK Online can provide support to customers, without having to confront the myriad of router hardware on the market. On a service that is pushing G.DMT ADSL to its limit of 8Mbps this is partly understandable. People are still able to use a router of their own sourcing, but if reporting a fault you need to double check with the UK Online supplied hardware.
