Pipex has launched a VoIP service aimed at its business broadband customers. VoIP is becoming more and more attractive to businesses particularly with the rise of homeworkers, or for companies looking to reduce the number of actual phone lines they pay line rental on. Details are on the Pipex website.
One factor holding back many from exploiting VoIP is the worries about calls been dropped or interrupted by other use of the broadband connection. The Pipex package appears to include QoS controls as part of the hardware package, which should allow upto five VoIP calls to be made over a 0.5Mbps ADSL connection.
