1000 more exchanges to get BT SDSL by April 2006
Wednesday 24 November 2004 15:54:00 by Andrew Ferguson

SDSL has fairly limited availability from BT Wholesale at present, 224 exchanges enabled by end of November 2004, rising to 300 by March 2005. An announcement today to roll-out SDSL onto 1000 more exchanges between April 2005 and April 2006 will be welcomed by businesses looking to benefit from SDSL. The BT announcement in full is available here.

The first batch of 500 exchanges is due to be announced in January 2005, with the second batch in August 2005. The roll-out once completed should apparently make the 0.5Mbps SDSL available to around two thirds of UK businesses. The coverage for 1Mbps and 2Mbps SDSL will be less due to the limits of reach on the service.
