Telewest in offer to dial-up users
Friday 29 October 2004 11:15:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Telewest is the latest supplier to be trying encourage dial-up users to switch to their broadband platform. Telewest is offering its 0.25Mbps service at £14.99 per month for the first 12 months, reverting to £17.99 per month after that. There are no start-up costs, since the service comes with free activation and a free cable modem.

The Telewest service is also free of any confusing bandwidth capping, which avoids one obstacle that can confuse people who just use their Internet connection without knowing the differences between bits and bytes.

Many people complain that service providers seem to be pushing their slower speed broadband services more than say the 1Mbps, 2Mbps and higher options. The reality is that for higher speed services to become more available providers will need to get millions more people on to their broadband platforms initially.
