NTL increases 0.6Mbps and 1Mbps services speed for free
Friday 29 October 2004 10:02:00 by Andrew Ferguson

In a move that is going to make existing business customers happy, NTL is increasing the downstream speed of its 0.6Mbps service to 0.75Mbps, and 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps. The products are to be known collectively as Broadband Lite. The pricing remains at £24.99 and £34.99 respectively. Unfortunately no increases on the upstream side. It is good to see business users getting what home users received earlier in the year. The full press release is online here.

The 1.5Mbps service is a welcome boost, and brings their business packages into line with residential. We still expect to see a 3Mbps service in the near future to match Telewests residential service. With NTL selling both cable and ADSL services now, it should be pointed out that the upgrades only apply to people on the NTL cable modem network.
