ZDNet last week ran with some news on the expansion of a TV delivered web service called RegenTV, that the London Borough of Newham runs. The service is currently being used by 500 out of the 700 residents it is available too and the plans are to expand it across Newham and into Tower Hamlets.
Services like this are fairly rare in the UK, and it may be interesting to see how it develops and whether interest is raised with other councils. It is less a case of getting some form of broadband to people, but with a councils involvement it should result in local government services becoming much more readily available.
