The Mail On Sunday financial section carried the news over the weekend, that Ofcom look set to drop the most radical option from its 12 month long review of the telecoms market. Many players in the past have made public calls for BT to split into separate companies, but it looks like on October 12th when the Ofcom review is published the plan will have being dropped.
It is indicated though that BT Wholesale must go to greater lengths to show that when selling services to BT Retail, it is doing so on exactly the same terms as other customers.
This move by Ofcom appears to be also backed by the Telecommunications industry at large, since the pressure for BT to be split into different companies has largely disappeared.
