The supermarket giant Tesco has finally launched its £19.97 per month 0.5Mbps ADSL service. The service includes a free USB ADSL modem and free activation, though the technical support line costs 50p per minute.
The Tesco service is believed to be rolling out in phases across the country, so to find out if you can get the service you will need to talk to Tesco. The big bonus for many people is that the service has no download limit, and as such is starting to make some of the 1GB per month services look expensive.
One odd point is the simple "Help Me Decide' tool on their website. It only seems to recommend broadband for people who play online games or download large files. No matter what you select on the other options it will recommend a dial-up solution. A very odd state of affairs, as broadband does considerably enhance even simple things like web browsing.
