As we reported back on 9th June the Long Reach ADSL trial that is happening in Milton Keynes is to expand to two areas in Scotland. The areas been Fort William and Dingwall, area codes 01397 and 01349.
Two service providers ( NDO and PlusNet) who are accepting users as part of the trial have issued press releases to remind the public that just 100 places are available for the trial in each location.
As has been seen in the Milton Keynes area, some lines may require a visit from a BT engineer to fit an ADSL faceplate to the master socket, rather than using microfilters, or to correct problems with the internal telephone wiring of the house. The fact that this corrective work may be needed was identified during technical evaluations BT carried out last winter.
