Broadband campaigners raise £510 for charity
Saturday 17 April 2004 14:00:00 by Andrew Ferguson

Broadband campaigners who use the BT Wholesale broadband Get On and Get It campaigners forum raised £510 for charity. The money was raised through a sweepstake based around the date that BT were to announce the details of its broadband review, which was in November 2003. The person closest to the actual date got to nominate the charity that would benefit.

The nominated charity was The Downs Syndrome Association, who have now received all the proceeds from the sweepstake. This was made up of £255 from individuals, and was matched by BT Wholesale making a grand total of £510.

The value of the donations was further boosted by most individuals filling in a Gift declaration form which allows a registered charity to claim back tax on your donation.
