Chance to petition Scottish Parliament on broadband
Monday 19 January 2004 10:28:00 by Andrew Ferguson

An E-petition is running until 31st January 2004 on The Scottish Parliament website about "Broadband for All of Scotland by mid 2005". The petitions aim is to raise the awareness of the problems that some areas of Scotland will have in getting broadband.

The progress made by the release of 2300 trigger levels by BT is acknowledged, and the possibility of using satellite based access is also raised. The main thrust for the petition is to ensure that the rural areas of Scotland do not end up being 'have nots' with regards to cheap/reliable/easy to use broadband Internet access. The problems for small businesses will increase as the take-up of broadband and the use of the Internet increases across the UK and the world.

For people wanting to sign the petition, you can sign up here.
