Easynet to unbundle another 80 exchanges in 2004
Tuesday 13 January 2004 21:56:00 by Andrew Ferguson

ZDNet carries the news that Easynet is pressing on with its program of offering businesses and power users in the UK the option of 8Mbps DSL line speeds via its network of LLU exchanges. It is hoped that during 2004 around 80 additional exchanges will be unbundled, bringing Easynets total to 229 exchanges.

The number of LLU lines in the UK is still very low, at around 8000-9000 lines, but the numbers are starting to grow. A lot of the growth is from SMEs who want the extra speed LLU services can offer with up-to 8Mbps being available, at a lot lower price point than is possible with traditional leased lines.
