Yet another service provider has gone bust this week. Independent Networks, a company that provided DSL broadband services in Leominster (Herefordshire) and Brendon Hills (Worcestershire) went into receivership on December 5th, TheRegister reports. The project, supported by Advantage West Midlands, is now looking for potential buyers who may be able to salvage the service.
This is another severe blow for rural areas as Independent Networks was looking at providing services in other communities.
Many of the users of Independent Networks have reportedly not been able to connect for the last week and it is being suggested that Independent Networks' leased lines have been disconnected by their provider.
Note: Independent Networks were operating the broadband service using DSL technology next to the exchange and not through wireless as initially reported.
