BT cuts cost of Exchange Activate
Wednesday 17 December 2003 10:16:00 by Sebastien Lahtinen

Exchange Activate, BT's programme to broadband enable exchanges with the support of Regional Development Agencies (RDA) received a boost with BT's announcement of a cost reduction. Previously the costs to enable an exchange under the scheme cost £45,000 over three years with a group of 30 users. From January, this cost is being reduced to £25,000 fixed cost with £13/month for each of the 30 users. Also, costs for further blocks of 30 users has dropped from £30,000 to £10,000 excluding the line rental.

This may be more attractive to RDAs and other bodies willing to sponsor ADSL access for an area.
