Help for businesses in Scotland
Wednesday 17 September 2003 10:00:00 by Andrew Ferguson

The Scottish Executive has started a new incentive scheme to encourage Scottish businesses to get connected with broadband. The scheme reflects the simple fact that 75% of companies now look on the web when searching for a supplier, which means companies without some form of web presence can be easily overlooked.

The incentive scheme will have a pool of £1.5 million, and will offer a £300 incentive for businesses to get connected to a basic ADSL, cable or PLC connection. The incentive can rise to £1,200 for satellite or other types of connections. Full details of how to apply are here.

To help awareness of the benefits of broadband, an e-Business week is being held with 150 events in Scotland, which is designed to let business explore how they can best make use of e-business.
