After what will have seemed an eternity to many, the first TPON telephone system customers have been moved over to a purely copper phone line so that they can have an ADSL service.
We last featured TPON in our news on 1st August 2003, when BT published the first list of projected dates for when copper cabling rather than fibre optic cabling would be available in a number of areas. Hopefully now more people who are served by TPON based phone lines will start to get ADSL. It is a shame that it has taken BT three years from the initial ADSL roll-out to solve this problem.
