BT Wholesale has today announced the move from trials to a full commercial product for its SDSL range which is split into two variants IPStream Symmetric and DataStream Symmetric products.
We featured a longer news article along with the pricing in August 2003. The main new news is that BT Wholesale plan to roll-out SDSL to another 50 exchanges by January 2004, which exact exchanges will be determined by market analysis and feedback from service providers.
The limited availability of SHDSL (Single pair High bit rate DSL, often shortened to SDSL) on BTs DSL exchanges is likely to handicap the takeup, but for those lucky SMEs in the covered areas it offers great opportunities for decreasing Internet access costs while still retaining many of the facilities of more expensive leased lines.
