Complete Broadband launches
Tuesday 09 September 2003 06:25:00 by Sebastien Lahtinen

A new company, Complete Broadband, is introducing a new service ideal for those looking to buy a new Dell Dimension PC and a One.Tel broadband connection, either as an upgrade to existing computer users or even as a first multimedia PC with Internet connectivity.

They will initially be running a pilot during which the first 100 customers to sign up will receive a Dell PC, One.Tel broadband connection, a SpeedTouch 510 ADSL router, two microfilters and some other features including free virus protection and parental controls. The costs are a one off payment of £199 and a £29.99 monthly payment on a three year contract for those signing up during the pilot (rising to £35/month for orders placed after the launch). These are subject to status and finance agreement and include VAT. The 500 Kbps One.Tel Internet connection that is bundled in this package is based on a static IP address with a retail price of £27.99 (excluding VAT!) so Complete Broadband have negotiated good discounts on bulk orders.

As more of the UK population who are not yet online or have very limited Internet experience outside the workplace go online, a service such as this that offers a complete package is likely to be very popular in the next couple of years. Undoubtedly, it is likely that the larger ISPs will establish similar alliances with computer manufacturers in the not too distant future as they find other ways to tie their customer base to their service for a longer period of time to discourage switching based on marginal price differences.
