Highlands and Islands Enterprise to help upgrade 6 BT exchanges
Thursday 13 March 2003 09:03:00 by Andrew Ferguson

BBC News Online reports from the Convention of the Highlands and Islands in Elgin that six BT exchanges are to be upgraded to support broadband. The six exchanges are Forres, Nairn, Dingwall, Buckie, Oban and Fort William. The upgrades will upgraded by BT Scotland with support from the Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Six exchanges is a start, lets hope that further initiatives can be made around the country to ensure that something approaching universal affordable and usable broadband can be achieved within a realistic timescale.

When will the exchange in Fort William be upgraded to allow residents of Caol to receive broadband.
I pay the same amount or sometimes more than the people in Fort William and I am only able to get 56K, this is so unjust, upgrade the Fort William exchange to serve more people.
