UK ADSL - How It All Slots Together - 34Mbps Gateway

Typical 34Mbps Gateway

Diagram of a typical 34Mbps home gateway

The gateway is fed by two 17Mbps PVC's. There are problems currently with these as it is possible for one to be overloaded while the other is lightly loaded. This gives rise to people on the same gateway having widely varying latency times and download speeds. No fix appears to be in sight and this problem affects the 155Mbps gateways as well.
